These donuts are extremely soft and fluffy and pair perfectly with the chocolate glaze!

Yields: 12 donuts
Ingredients
For the donuts:
  • 2 cups (276g) all purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick; 56g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2/3 cup (143g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup plus 2 teaspoons (183g) milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
For the chocolate glaze:
  • 3/4 cup (162g) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons (39g) unsalted butter
  • 1 and 1/2 tablespoons water
Instructions
To make the donuts:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a donut pan with nonstick spray.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Add the melted butter into the flour mixture and stir until mostly combined. (See Notes)

  4. In a large glass measuring cup whisk the eggs, milk, and vanilla.

  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix until the batter is a smooth consistency. To get rid of any lumps, whisk the batter vigorously.

  6. Scoop the batter into a piping bag and pipe it into each donut cavity 2/3 of the way full.

  7. Bake for 9-10 minutes at 350°F or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the donuts cool completely.

To make the glaze:
  1. While the donuts are cooling, add the chocolate chips, butter, and water into a bowl. Microwave in 15 second intervals, stirring after each interval.

  2. Once the donuts have cooled, dip them into the glaze. Optional: add sprinkles on top!

Recipe Notes

The butter is added separately from the other wet ingredients because when combining the melted butter with cold ingredients, the mixture can curdle.
