Homemade Hot Chocolate

This homemade hot chocolate is made in just minutes and tastes amazingly rich and chocolate-y! This is the perfect recipe to make this winter!

Yields: 4 servings
Ingredients
  • 2 and 1/2 cups (610mL) whole milk
  • 1/3 cup (79mL) water
  • 1/4 cup (67mL) half-and-half
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup (22g) unsweetened natural cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup (70g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
  1. Combine whole milk, water, half-and-half, and vanilla extract in a medium-sized saucepan. Sift in cocoa powder, sugar, salt and whisk the mixture. (Don't worry if there are a few lumps, they will go away when you warm the mixture!)

  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it starts to boil. Remove from heat. Serve warm.

Serving Suggestion: Top this homemade hot chocolate with marshmallows or whipped cream and chocolate sauce!

 

Make Ahead Tip: Store this hot chocolate in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Warm up in the microwave for a few seconds to enjoy!
